LEONARDTOWN, MD – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County (CSMC) began their business meeting with an invocation and the pledge, followed by approval of the consent agenda.

As part of the consent agenda, the CSMC authorized a letter of support for the St. Mary’s River Watershed Association’s application to the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Capacity Building Grant program.

The Commissioners then presented commendations to Ann and Paul Jean, Mary Ann Rymer, and the Center of Life Enrichment in recognition of twenty years of service with the Home Delivered Meals Program.

During County Administrator Time, the CSMC took the following action:

• Reviewed future CSMC meeting agendas.
• Approved the FY2027 Performance Incentive Grant Fund award.
• Approved the FY2027 Overdose and Drug Awareness Coordinator Project Grant award.
• Approved the Department of Economic Development’s request to submit census tracts 8760.04 and 8759.04 to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for consideration of opportunity zone designation.
• Authorized the Department of Land Use & Growth Management to seek a Maryland Historic Trust Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant for FY2027.
• Approved the requested amendment to the employee timekeeping policy.

The Commissioners then wrapped up their business meeting with Commissioner Time.

The CSMC reconvened at 2 p.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the St. Mary’s County Early Learning Center.

The next CSMC meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 9 a.m. in the CSMC Meeting Room, on the first floor of the Chesapeake Building, located at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown. There will also be a public forum that day at 6:30 p.m. CSMC decisions and related documents are available on the SMCG website by clicking Board Documents from the home page.
