On October 7 at approximately 10:21 p.m., officers responded to the area of October Place in Waldorf for a reported armed robbery. The victim reported that he was walking home when an unknown male approached and demanded his jacket. When the victim hesitated, the suspect displayed a handgun and struck him in the head before again demanding the jacket. The suspect also stole the victim’s cell phone and demanded the password. The victim complied, and the suspect fled. The victim was treated by EMS. Through investigation, officers learned the suspect sent money from the victim’s cell phone to his personal cash app. Further, officers were able to locate the phone at a residence in Waldorf where the suspect was positively identified. Officers obtained a search warrant and recovered evidence linking him to the case. Mekhi Nathan, 18, was arrested and charged with robbery, aggravated assault, weapons violations, and other related charges. Nathan also had an open warrant for violating probation relating to his conviction for illegal possession of a firearm and first-degree assault. On October 9, the courts ordered Nathan to be held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center. PFC Harden is investigating.
